Apples

Anticancer. Anti-inflammatory. Bone health. Cardiovascular health. Digestive support. Apples are their own little medicine cabinet. They have been shown to reduce levels of C-reactive protein, a marker for inflammation. High levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) are related to heart disease. Apples, particularly the peal, contain pectin, which helps soothe the stomach, and a mixture of antioxidants that can protect against the development of certain cancers, including lung cancer. In promising studies, German researchers found an acid in apples inhibited the development of colon cancer tumors, while Italian researchers noted apple extract appeared in animals to protect against stomach damage normally caused by aspirin. A recent study combining apple peal pectin with turmeric (curcumin) found synergistic effects in decreasing prostate cancer cell growth.
