Halibut

Anticancer. Anti-inflammatory. Blood pressure reduction. Cardiovascular health. Triglyceride reduction. Just 4 ounces of halibut provides at least 25 percent of the recommended daily intake of vitamin B12, omega-3s, phosphorus, niacin (40 percent), protein (60 percent), and selenium (75 percent). Regular consumption of omega-3s has been shown to lower rates of colorectal cancer, lymphoma, high blood pressure, and high triglycerides. The link here may be the ability of omega-3 to lessen systemic inflammation. In addition, vitamin B6, also abundant in halibut, and B12 limit production of homocysteine, a metabolic by-product that damages blood vessels which has been implicated in cardiovascular disease and dementia.
