Lemongrass

Antibacterial. The volatile oils in lemongrass, including citral, have been the subject of a fair number of animal and in vitro studies. These oils show promise in controlling the spread of E. coli bacteria, responsible for many food-borne ailments. Lemongrass extract killed or impaired the function of animal and human leukemia cells. Other animal studies showed that lemongrass has the potential to lower blood pressure.
