Miso (fermented soy)

Breast health. Bone health. Cardiovascular health. Immune support. Joint health. Researchers have long theorized that higher soy consumption is linked to better health and lower rates of breast cancer among certain Japanese populations. A study using mice found that those who were given miso in their diet developed fewer breast malignancies than the control group. Miso is also high in zinc, which plays a key role in supporting the immune system and in healing lacerations. Other minerals found in miso, manganese and copper, help blood vessels and joints remain pliable.
